House - Derbyshire
Bulmers Directory of 1895 states that the residence was erected by the Duke of Rutland in 1824 and enlarged in 1872. The Church in Derbyshire 1823-1824 includes the following account of the Parsonage House at Barlow from a visit made on 9th July 1823 – “handsome stone house now building in the Gothic style – contains 2 sitting rooms, 3 bedrooms, 2 servants rooms, kitchen, back-kitchen and offices, stable and cowhouse”. The house today offers excellent entertaining space on the ground floor and four good bedrooms to the first floor. To the rear of the house is a fully converted stone barn which offers ancillary accommodation in the form of a one bedroom flat, and double garage with two large interconnecting rooms and a large store room above. The gardens are mature and beautifully landscaped and feature an attractive pond together with a paddock.
